Student-led relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Harvey are happening throughout campus. Please help in any way you can!

The Student Government Association is working with other student organizations* to hold a non-perishable food** drive for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in the Lake Charles area. The drive will be held from Wednesday, Sept. 13, to Wednesday, Sept. 27. A table and boxes will be placed in Dupré Library and outside the SGA office (Room 159) in the Student Union, during University operating hours, to drop off donated food items.

The SGA is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank in Lafayette to distribute food to Louisiana residents who were hit by Hurricane Harvey and are in need, and is excited to be given the opportunity to help the town that McNeese, another UL System schools, calls home.

Other donation opportunities on campus:

The UL Lafayette Chapter of the NAACP, Black Student Union, BMLA, BWLA, NSBE, and the African Student Assc. are collecting donations of non-perishables, such as toilet paper, toiletries, blankets, flashlights, batteries, non-perishable food items, water and similar goods until Sept. 30. Their donation box is located the Student Union.

The Zeta Xi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha has donation boxes in all student dorms, they are also collecting non-perishable items such as toilet paper, toiletries, blankets, flashlights, batteries, etc. until Sept. 15. The dorm with the most items donated will have its name entered into a drawing for five free tickets to Gorilla Thriller, the Alpha Phi Alpha and Pike party scheduled for Oct. 20.
